Ten years ago it seemed like home sewing was a dying art.  Very few people wanted to take the time or make the effort to fashion their own clothing.  But in the past few years, sewing and other needle arts such as knitting have become wildly popular as people have rediscovered the fun of making clothing and accessories at home.

I can't help but think that the interest in vintage styles has a lot to do with it.  Many people love the  styles of the past, but either can't find vintage that fits them, or they want to be assured of good condition, so they have turned to using vintage patterns to make their clothing.  And with vintage patterns, it is easy to get the style you want, whether that is a long, lean 30s look, or the full-skirted 50s style, or the Mod 60s look.
